Grand jury indicts Huntsville man on capital murder charge in grandparents’ deaths

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A grand jury indicted a man who confessed to killing his grandparents in Huntsville.

Xavier Cole, 22, was charged with two counts of capital murder after he confessed to killing his grandparents, Antoinette Skaggs, 67, and Kenneth Skaggs, 69, with a sword and knife in February 2025.

An investigator testified during a preliminary hearing on March 18, 2025, that Cole admitted to the killings during an interview, adding that he blacked out for most of it but does remember taking their lives…
