Land Trust of North Alabama permently protects 65 acres on Green Mountain in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Land Trust of North Alabama has officially closed on a 65-acre property on Green Mountain, ensuring the land will remain permanently protected from future development.

According to the organization, the newly acquired tract will help preserve the natural landscape on Green Mountain and protect wildlife habitat, forests, and scenic views overlooking South Huntsville. The land will be conserved as part of the Land Trust’s ongoing efforts to safeguard natural spaces across the region.

In 2025, the Huntsville community came together and raised $300,000 to save the piece of land. The Land Trust of North Alabama officially closed on the property last week.
