Decatur Scottboro Boy Museum asks city council to help fund museum

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Board members with Celebrating Early Old Town with Art gave a presentation Monday night at the Decatur city council meeting, asking for funds to preserve the city’s history.

The funds will go towards the Decatur Scottsboro Boys Civil Rights Museum and the Judge James E. Horton Legal Learning Center. The legal center will provide educational programs for middle and high school students.

Board members are hoping to receive one million dollars from the city each year for the next five years. The home of Judge Horton was moved a few years ago from Limestone County to Morgan County.
