‘It could save lives’: Huntsville City Council approve police Live911 technology

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — In an emergency, merely seconds could mean the difference between life and death, and the Huntsville Police Department says it’s trying to bridge that gap.

One way the department said it can achieve that is through Higher Ground’s Live911 technology.

The program allows officers to hear emergency calls in real-time, rather than waiting for it to go through a dispatcher. It can also give law enforcement access to the caller’s location through their phone, even keeping the location up to date if the caller is moving.
