Food bank served 1,100 families in Huntsville in one day during government shutdown

The Food Bank of North Alabama distributed food to more than 1,100 families in the Huntsville area in one day during the government shutdown last fall.

The food bank distributed food to 955 families at one location in Huntsville on Veterans Day in just four hours, Food Bank CEO Shirley Schofield told the Huntsville City Council. Another 200 families received food during a distribution at Toyota Field on the same day.
