Sixth-seeded Kennesaw State advanced to the Conference USA championship, upsetting second-seeded Sam Houston 79-73 on Friday in the semifinals of the conference tournament at Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama.
Down six at halftime, Kennesaw State (20-13) rallied to take lead before a cold spell allowed Sam Houston (22-11) to tie the game at 67-all with 4:46 to play. The Owls, however, took momentum right back Trey Simpson’s 3-pointer and never again trailed.
