The Huntsville Police Department will conduct its first DUI safety checkpoint of 2026 on Friday, March 20, as part of ongoing efforts to deter impaired driving and improve roadway safety.
The checkpoint, organized by HPD’s DUI Task Force, comes as spring travel and seasonal celebrations begin, a time when officials say impaired driving incidents can increase. The effort is aimed at increasing police visibility, encouraging safe driving habits and preventing alcohol- and drug-related crashes.
“Our goal is simple — keep people safe,” said DUI Task Force Sgt. Antonio Shorter. “By maintaining a strong presence and raising awareness early in the year, we hope to prevent impaired driving before it leads to tragedy.”…
