Air medics hold landing zone training in Limestone County

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Air Evac 177 and Survival Flight 20 partnered together Saturday afternoon to teach people about how to coordinate with medical helicopters.

Piney Chapel Fire and Rescue hosted the class at its station, bringing together different emergency agencies to teach them a variety of things, like helping aircraft get on and off the ground.

“We’re teaching these folks what we’re looking for with an LZ. We need a certain-sized area. We need to make sure that we’re aware of any obstructions, whether it’s power lines or vehicles or even farm animals that might be in the LZ,” flight paramedic Blair Blanch said…
