HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Police officers used a drone to safely locate and arrest a suspect following a shooting, officials said. The department’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) program provided real-time support during the investigation.
Officers were called Friday evening, March 20, to the hospital for a reported shooting victim. During the initial response, investigators identified a possible suspect and the vehicle he may have been driving.
The department deployed a DFR drone to the 100 block of Barrell Avenue, where the suspect was believed to live. Just over 20 minutes later, the drone located the vehicle at the residence. Thermal imaging showed the car had been recently driven…
