North Alabama city cracks down on Airbnb, VRBO, caps short-term rental properties at 150 a year

New regulations for short-term rentals such as Airbnb and VRBO in Decatur will take effect April 1.

Decatur City Council approved the regulations Feb. 2, just a few months before “Rock the South” festival brings thousands to the city.

Under the new ordinance, only 150 short-term rental properties will be allowed per year, approved on a first-come, first-serve basis…
