Senior Fun Fest brings nostalgic homecoming celebration to Huntsville this May

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — TARCOG is bringing back its annual Senior Fun Fest with a Homecoming theme this May to celebrate Older Americans Month. The event, designed for seniors across DeKalb, Jackson, Limestone, Madison, and Marshall counties, will take place Tuesday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alabama A&M Agribition Center, 4925 Moores Mill Road in Huntsville.

Last year, around 800 people attended, and organizers expect a similar turnout this year. Advance tickets are $5 and can be purchased at any senior center or Council on Aging office in the five counties by April 24. Tickets will also be available at TARCOG’s new office at 4976 Corporate Drive NW in Huntsville. Starting April 25, tickets will cost $7.

“Our homecoming theme is going to really dig into nostalgia as we will tailor our music, decorations, and contests to the decades ranging from the 1930s through the 1980s,” said TARCOG Executive Director Michelle Gilliam Jordan. “While there will be plenty of fun, we always incorporate ways for them to remain focused on health with onsite screenings and nutritious cooking options. This is a big day for the aging population in our region.”…
