HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The commander of U.S. Space Command will travel to Redstone Arsenal next week for a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the command’s first dedicated operational facility on the installation — a significant step in the ongoing relocation of the Colorado Springs-based command to Huntsville.
Gen. Stephen N. Whiting will host the ceremony on Wednesday as personnel from the command’s intelligence directorate formally begin executing operational missions from Redstone.
The milestone builds on months of rapid preparation. Within 24 hours of President Trump’s announcement on Sept. 2, 2025 that Space Command would relocate to Huntsville, a small team was already on the ground at Redstone.
