Key ruling before Morgan County woman charged in murder-for-hire trial begins

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – A Morgan County woman charged with capital murder in a murder-for-hire plot will stand trial this week.

Jaclyn Skuce is accused of paying to have her ex-boyfriend killed in 2020. The victim, Anthony Sheppard, had a child with Skuce and the two had been in a custody battle at the time.

Morgan County Judge Jennifer Howell denied a defense motion to suppress a key interview given by Skuce. The defense argued Skuce was coerced during her initial interview with investigators and wanted the statements she made to them thrown out.
