Madison County opens two new storm shelters to expand severe weather safety

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. — Madison County opened two new storm shelters, giving residents more options to seek safety during severe weather as the county continues to grow.

District 4 Commissioner Phil Vandiver says officials are committed to ensuring all residents have access to a safe place when storms strike. One of the shelters can hold up to 200 people and was built in an area that has seen tornadoes in the past.
