REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (WHNT) — More than 200 U.S. Space Command personnel are expected to be working on Redstone Arsenal by the end of the year.
Top leadership held a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, marking the opening of Alabama’s first dedicated operational Space Command facility.

“We’ve been looking for this day for quite some time now,” Maj. Gen. Terry Grisham said. “We’ve done a lot of hard work and analysis to ensure we’ve got the capabilities in place as we bring personnel on to Redstone Arsenal.”
Grisham, who oversees the Space Command transition for Redstone Arsenal, said renovations and new construction are underway, making additional space for workers. Eventually, Space Command will have its own specially-constructed headquarters, but until that day, the transition team is moving personnel into existing buildings…
