Penny-sized hail expected with thunderstorms to hit North Alabama Wednesday – gusts to hit 40 mph

The National Weather Service issued a report at 11:54 p.m. on Wednesday for strong thunderstorms until Thursday at 12:45 a.m. for Madison, Marshall and Jackson counties.

The storms are packing penny-sized hail (0.75 inches) and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 11:54 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Woodville, or 15 miles west of Scottsboro, moving northeast at 40 mph,” comments the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”…
