MADISON COUNTY, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a fraudulent document currently being distributed throughout the county that falsely claims to be an official court notice regarding traffic violations.
The document, titled “Final Enforcement Notice – Court-Ordered Compliance Required,” appears to originate from the State of Alabama and includes official-looking seals, legal references and a QR code for payment.
“These scammers are counting on people to react quickly out of fear,” said Sheriff Kevin Turner. “Our office and the Madison County court system do not operate this way. We will never send out notices demanding immediate payment through a QR code or unofficial payment site. If you receive something like this, stop and verify before taking any action.”…
