Huntsville considers $45M investment tied to U.S. Space Command

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Huntsville City Council will consider a $45 million investment aimed at supporting Redstone Arsenal’s continued expansion and the planned permanent headquarters of U.S. Space Command when it meets May 14.

The resolution would authorize Mayor Tommy Battle to move forward with the city’s portion of a joint commitment with the state of Alabama tied to infrastructure and housing improvements connected to the project.

The proposed investment includes about $15 million from the state for senior leader housing built to military specifications. The remaining $30 million would go toward site work, utilities and infrastructure needed to support construction of the new U.S. Space Command headquarters at Redstone Arsenal…
