A routine traffic stop on Indianapolis‘ southwest side ended with a man dead and a state police Taser deployment under formal review. Indiana State Police say a trooper pulled over a vehicle just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, near the intersection of Holt Road and Oliver Avenue.
During that stop, the trooper discovered that the driver – 53-year-old David Potts – was wanted on a felony theft warrant out of Hendricks County.
When the trooper moved to take Potts into custody, he resisted and fled on foot. The trooper gave chase and deployed his Taser, which struck Potts and sent him into a grassy area near the traffic stop. When the officer caught up to him, Potts was unresponsive…
