Four people have lost their lives due to flooding caused by severe thunderstorms in Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear announced Saturday, as he declared a state of emergency with further rainfall on the way. Flash flood warnings remained in effect Saturday for parts of Kentucky and Indiana amid torrential rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.
The agency reported late Saturday afternoon that between 4 and 10 inches of rain had already fallen across parts of southwestern Indiana, with more anticipated. Beshear’s office warned that up to 7 inches of rain were expected in parts of his state through the late evening.
