Delaware County Board of Commissioners declares vote of no confidence in Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears

DELAWARE COUNTY, Indiana — The Delaware County Board of Commissioners, prosecutor and sheriff have declared a vote of no confidence in Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears.

The resolution lists “years of elevated violent crime,” increased criminal activity and law enforcement concerns as reasoning for the move. Passed Monday night, July 6, the resolution claims Mears has “contributed to circumstances that negatively impact public safety and impose unnecessary costs upon Delaware County taxpayers.”

The measure also calls for Marion County and state leaders to “pursue policies that prioritize public safety, support law enforcement, protect crime victims, and restore confidence in the administration of justice.”…
