Gov. Braun launches “Nuclear Ready Community” program for Indiana counties

INDIANAPOLIS (WEVV) — Indiana Gov. Mike Braun announced the launch of the Indiana Advanced Nuclear Ready Community program, an effort aimed at helping counties and regions prepare for advanced nuclear energy development, including small modular reactors.

State leaders say the program is designed to attract clean energy investment by having communities demonstrate infrastructure capacity, workforce readiness, regulatory familiarity, and local support before developers move in. Braun said the initiative fits Indiana’s “all-of-the-above” energy approach and is focused on improving energy affordability and reliability.
