Column: Prediabetes: A warning sign too many people miss

If you’ve been told you have prediabetes, you’re not alone. Many people are surprised by the diagnosis, especially because they feel perfectly healthy.

Unfortunately, prediabetes (an A1C of 5.7 to 6.4 percent) is an early warning sign that the body is struggling with insulin resistance; increasing the risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver disease and even dementia.
