Free Youth Hunting Days are less than a week away, while the final Free Fishing Day comes later this month.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites Hoosiers to participate in the first Free Youth Hunting Days of 2026 on September 5–6 and the last Free Fishing Day of the year on September 26.
Free Youth Hunting Days allow Indiana residents 17 or younger to hunt any legal game in season without a hunting license. After September 5-6, the final Free Youth Hunting Days of 2026 will be November 28-29.
“Free Youth Hunting dates in September provide opportunities for young hunters to target introductory small game species like squirrels and doves under the guidance of trusted mentors,” said Branndon Castellano, Indiana DNR’s hunting and shooting sports coordinator. “Free Youth Hunting dates in late November then offer mentors the chance to expose young hunters to more challenging pursuits like deer, quail, and waterfowl.”…
