BROWNSTOWN, Ind. (WXIN) — A former Indiana sheriff’s deputy was charged with official misconduct after reports he abused his access to Flock cameras by essentially stalking his girlfriend with the far-reaching surveillance system.
The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office announced official charges against Skylar Thompson, 31, of Brownstown on Monday. The former deputy faces one count of official misconduct as a Level 6 Felony and a misdemeanor count of fraud.
A warrant was issued for Thompson’s arrest. State police confirmed Thompson was taken into custody on Monday.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Thompson was still employed as a sheriff’s deputy when he conducted 2,055 searches of the same license plate using the Flock camera system. The searches occurred between Dec. 31, 2025, and Aug. 2, 2026…
