CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. — About 125 Indiana National Guard soldiers are deploying to the U.S.-Mexico border for a mission expected to last nearly a year, supporting federal efforts to combat illegal immigration, drug trafficking and human smuggling.
The soldiers with the 381st Military Police Company, based in Plymouth, departed following a ceremony Saturday at Camp Atterbury. They will support U.S. Customs and Border Protection through Joint Task Force Southern Border as part of Operation Ardent Vanguard.
