New proposed Indiana speed limit bill to be heard

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- If you have dreamed of having higher speed limits in Indiana, you could get your wish soon.

The State House Roads Committee will hear House Bill 1308 today. The bill calls for increasing the maximum speed limit in the state from 70 milers per hour, to 75 miles per hour.

According to the proposed bill, a number of factors would determine which roads would be impacted. They include roads on the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, as well as being outside of an urbanized area with a population of at least fifty-thousand people, but there would also be weight restrictions.

The bill was authored by State Representatives Ben Smaltz and Chris Judy.
