Indy mother accused of child neglect after 5-month-old son suffers numerous broken bones

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother is in jail charged with child neglect after her infant son suffered numerous broken bones.

The investigation began last September when the 5-month-old victim was taken to a hospital with a broken arm. Doctors then found the victim had numerous other injuries that did not appear to be accidental.

Inside an apartment on Indy’s south side, prosecutors claim a 5-month-old boy suffered a complex skull fracture, multiple broken ribs, a fractured leg, and a broken arm.

Doctors at Riley Children’s Hospital told investigators those injuries were likely inflicted over several weeks or even months.

30-year-old Hanah Par is now charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, as well as battery of a child.

The suspect’s 8-year-old son also told police he too had been regularly beaten by his mother inside their apartment when she got angry.

According to the affidavit, the suspect gave conflicting stories about how the infant could have been hurt, including a fall from a mattress. Doctors determined that it was unlikely to cause the injuries in question.
