The victim was identified as part of efforts by forensic specialists to determine the identities of nearly 10,000 bone fragments recovered from the serial killer’s house

The body found by authorities at a serial killer’s property in Indiana was identified as a man who went missing around three decades ago, according to a coroner’s office.

Hamilton County Coroner Jeff Jellison said on Thursday that the remains that investigators found in 1996 at the former home of Herbert Baumeister belonged to Manuel Resendez, who went missing in August 1993, local news station CBS 4 Indy reported .

Over the course of a decade starting in the mid-80s, Baumeister reportedly lured gay men to his house and killed them. He would dispose of their bodies in his backyard, according to the police.

Baumeister, who reportedly killed at least 25 people , shot himself dead in Canada in 1996 when law enforcement started investigating him.

Resendez was identified as part of efforts by forensic specialists to determine the identities of nearly 10,000 bone fragments recovered from Baumeister’s house in the 1990s.
