A man, with a history of ramming into police vehicles, was sentenced to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Correction on Friday after reaching agreements with prosecutors in two separate cases.
George Leachman, 43, pleaded guilty to resisting law enforcement in connection with the ramming of an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department squad car in November.
He also pleaded guilty to three counts of battery with bodily injury to a public safety officer in connection with the ramming of three police vehicles and the injuring of officers in February 2023. Officers shot Leachman before he was taken into custody in the February ramming.
Leachman’s sentence for the November ramming requires five years of probation after his release from the Department of Corrections, according to the sentencing order.
Leachman was out of jail on bond during the November ramming
Before ramming the police vehicle in November, Leachman was driving a stolen pickup on the east side of Indianapolis. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop as the Ford F-350 he was driving had an expired license plate, according to IMPD.
