Wiliamsburg Virginia man is hit by semi-tanker in Indiana while trying to rescue his dog

Virginia man is recovering after being hit by a semi-tanker

A 22-year-old Virginia driver had an experience in Indiana that sounds like it should be a scene in the Grand Theft Auto video game and he lived to tell the story. Fox News 55 says the young driver had a flat tire on Friday evening around 6:30 p.m.and was changing it on the side of Indianna Toll Road.

The dog got loose and when the owner tried to prevent his pet from being hit by the truck the semi-tanker hit him instead. State Police reported finding the Virginia driver laying in the grass in a median with serious injuries. He was “alert and conscious” and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The dog and semi driver were not injured

Troopers found the uninjured dog who had returned to the inside the car. The Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County is now caring for it. The semi driver, a 64-year-old Polk, Ohio man also did not sustain injuries.

Fox did not name the driver but the Journal Gazette identified him as Jack Holdren of Williamsburg, Virginia. He was driving his car eastbound on the Interstate 80/90 toll road when the events unfolded.
