Hamilton County issues travel advisory for Thursday

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — Slick conditions in some areas led Hamilton County to issue a yellow travel advisory Thursday morning.

According to Hamilton County Emergency Management, there were several reports of frost on the roads from law enforcement agencies. “Poor conditions” in some areas led the agency to issue the yellow travel advisory.

“Watch for slick spots on roadways,” the agency said on social media .

The advisory means drivers should be aware of possible hazardous travel and use additional caution during their commute.

The advisory showed up on the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s county travel status map .

The three travel statuses in order of severity are: advisory (yellow), watch (orange), and warning (red). IDHS distinguishes each advisory on the following criteria:

Advisory (Yellow): Routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.

Watch (Orange): Only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended. Emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.
