An Indiana program is helping inmates prepare for careers while incarcerated

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) – It’s called HIRE, and it’s helping inmates get careers to try and reduce the amount of people that return to jail after serving time. DeAndre Hughes, a participant of HIRE, says, “What a lot of people probably don’t realize is poverty creates crime, so if people getting out aren’t working, they’re going to be doing things they don’t need to be doing.”
