Dog Attack Survivor Calls for Accountability After Tragic Incidents

Indianapolis, IN — In a recent incident that has left a community shaken, a 64-year-old man with special needs, Richard Hayes, narrowly survived a traumatic dog attack while on an early morning walk along Kitley Avenue near 21st Street on the east side of Indianapolis. The attack took place in close proximity to the spot where 85-year-old William Mundine lost his life in a similar attack.

Richard Hayes, who comes from a supportive family, was bitten severely during the attack, leaving him with extensive injuries. “He was bitten down to his bones. He’s going to have a long recovery, as if his disabilities already weren’t enough,” expressed his sister, Joyce, who is rallying behind her brother’s recovery.

It was only due to the timely intervention of some passersby in a van that Richard Hayes is alive today. His sister Joyce firmly believes that her brother owes his life to those Good Samaritans. “I believe he is alive today because they stopped and got involved and got him the help he needed,” she acknowledged.
