Landlord reportedly holds gun to renter’s head, demands money

INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis landlord was charged after reportedly threatening to kill renters who had yet to pay.

Jeffrey Salazar was charged with the following:

  • two counts of armed robbery, a Level 3 Felony
  • one count of kidnapping, a Level 3 Felony

According to court documents, on Feb. 3 at approximately 3:14 a.m., the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Howard St on an incomplete 911 call from the location.

While officers were en route to the scene, dispatch updated police that the caller’s landlord held a gun to his head while demanding rent money. Upon arrival, an officer confirmed that two male residents had been held at gunpoint by Salazar while he demanded them to pay rent money.

Salazar went as far as to take one man to Speedway gas station at gunpoint and demanded he retrieve his portion of the rent from the ATM. His portion of the rent was $400.

During an interview with detectives, one of the victims stated that Salazar said, “I’ll will kill you right now,” with expletives while holding them at gunpoint.
