Person pulls 62-year-old neighbor out of mobile home fire on south side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A 62-year-old man was pulled from a mobile home fire by one of his neighbors on Sunday.

According to a Facebook post from the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 4701 Madison Avenue at approximately 9:12 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a mobile home that had been heavily impacted by flames.

IFD’s crews brought the fire under control in 15 minutes. Investigators believe the home did not have any working smoke alarms.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and IFD believe the fire was accidental, though the exact cause of the blaze has not been officially disclosed.

Investigators determined the man was pulled from the mobile home by a neighbor. He was then transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition. IFD reported that the 62-year-old is expected to recover from the injuries he sustained during the fire.
