Macy’s is closing 150 stores. Here’s what we know about Indiana locations

Macy’s announced on Tuesday they are closing 150 locations by 2026 to shutter “underproductive” stores and realign resources into the remaining spots.

The move will close roughly 30% of Macy’s locations, with 50 shuttering by the end of this fiscal year.

“A Bold New Chapter serves as a strong call to action. It challenges the status quo to create a more modern Macy’s, Inc. We are making the necessary moves to reinvigorate relationships with our customers through improved shopping experiences, relevant assortments and compelling value,” Macy’s chief executive officer Tony Spring said in a written statement.

Here’s what we know so far about the moves by one of the nation’s biggest department stores.

Are any Macy’s closing in Indiana?

We don’t know yet. The company did not provide a list of affected locations in the statement or when contacted by USA TODAY for comment.

The closings come after Macy’s announced fourth quarter and full 2023 results, which showed net sales were down 6.5% compared to 2022.
