INDIANAPOLIS — Citizens Energy Group’s Thermal utility plans to flush newly installed steam lines in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday, June 27, which will likely cause loud noises and may present visible steam.
According to representatives at CEG, steam is used in a district energy system to control climate change in a collection of buildings in downtown Indianapolis. The process will likely be loud enough to be heard by passersby, and steam may be visible in the air.
The flush will occur on the site of the Elanco development project, which is west of downtown Indianapolis. It will continue periodically throughout the day on June 27, and is expected to be completed today.
Citizens has said that, apart from the noise and visible steam, there will be no additional impact on the community.
