Sheriff: Dog shot during argument on SR 67 near Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — Morgan County authorities are investigating after a dog was shot during an argument between two men near Martinsville.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Thursday afternoon to an area of State Road 67 near Martinsville for a feud between two men.

Responding authorities said that both men were in an argument when one man pulled out a gun and began firing shots. Some of the gunshots went through the door of a home, police said.

According to MCSO, one bullet traveled through the door and struck a dog that was inside the house. The dog is currently being cared for at a local animal shelter, police said.

As of 6:30 p.m. Thursday, police have not released the names of the men involved in the gunfire and have not said if any charges have been filed. The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
