Fourth of July parade, firework cancellations in Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — Oh no! It quite literally is expected to rain on our parades. This has led to a seemingly growing list of cancellations on Independence Day.

What to know for Downtown Indy’s Fourth Fest

Review the list below to check events that are rescheduled, postponed, or cancelled:

Bloomington Fourth of July Parade Cancelled:

  • City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation made the “difficult” decision to cancel the scheduled the Fourth of July Parade along with the 9 a.m. performance by the Bloomington Community Band. “We share our community’s disappointment, but the safety of parade participants, spectators and our staff is our highest priority,” said Community Relations Manager Julie Ramey. “Be safe and enjoy the Independence Day holiday!”

Rushville Fireworks Postponed :

  • The City of Rushville has postponed their Fourth of July celebration for July 13th citing the unexpected thunderstorms, safety, and high cost. “It would be impractical for the pyrotechnics team to spend hours setting up, only for rainfall to occur, risking a $20,000+ loss in fireworks funded entirely by donations from businesses, families, and individuals,” said Kyle Gardener, the director of special projects. “Rescheduling the fireworks show is complex, as such displays require professional setup and execution.” Read more on their detailed reasoning for reschedule here .
