INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is actively searching for an armed suspect on the city’s west side.
Officers were dispatched to an ‘incident’ in the 5000 block of West Raymond Street on a report of a suspicious person messing around with a vandalized a box truck.
According to IMPD, police showed up and confronted the suspect that resulted in a brief physical fight between the suspect and the officer. Officials said the suspect also pointed a gun at the officer, but no shots were fired.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The officer suffered a minor hand injury.
Lockdowns for surrounding schools are lifted.
No suspect has been taken into custody. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
