A first-grade student from Christel House West Academy was left behind on a school field trip last week and now her mother has removed the girl and her sister from the school.
Cianni Dungy, 6, was on a field trip with her other classmates Oct. 16 when she was left behind at Tuttle Orchards farms in Greenfield, about 26 miles away from her K-8 charter school on the west side of Indianapolis, according to Fox News.
Cianni’s mother, Dearra Allen told Fox News that she learned her daughter was left behind after the school called Cianni’s grandmother, who is listed as her emergency contact. Allen rushed to the school to get Cianni.
Allen said her daughter’s teacher said they did do a headcount before leaving Tuttle Orchard but it is not clear why Cianni was not counted among the group.
“They really had nothing to say other than I was right,” Allen told Fox News.

Once staff at the orchard noticed Cianni was alone she was taken to an office where she waited until a staff member of Christel House picked her up.
