INDIANAPOLIS — Two men were critically injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 5400 block of East 38th Street around 4:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
Shortly after they located the first victim, police found a second adult male who had sustained injuries consistent gunshot wounds near the intersection of 38th Street and Arlington Avenue.
Both men were transported to an area hospital after police found them. IMPD reported that the victims are both in critical condition.
Police believe the men were injured in the same shooting. Investigators reported that the incident unfolded outside a grocery store in the area.
IMPD could not confirm what the victims’ relationship with each other was. Police aren’t sure if the victims were injured while shooting at each other or if additional parties were involved in the incident.
