Intruder held at gunpoint after being found in Muncie home, deputies say

MUNCIE, Ind. — An intruder found in a Muncie home was held at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived, law enforcement officials reported.

Kenneth Gregory Quilaton, 33, of Greenwood, was arrested Oct. 21 at a home along Health Drive on suspicion of residential entry, criminal mischief and bribery.

According to an affidavit, the home’s owners had been out of town for a few days, and their son was left in the care of a family friend.

The juvenile was returned to the house on Oct. 21, the day his parents were scheduled to return, and reported finding an intruder — later identified as Quilaton — inside.

The family friend then went inside, encountered Quilaton and his dog in a sunroom, and held the Greenwood man at gunpoint until Delaware County sheriff’s deputies arrived, the affidavit said.

While being taken into custody, Quilaton allegedly offered a deputy $100 to let him go.

Investigators said when the intruder was walking in the home’s attic, he apparently fell through the ceiling into the garage.
