During these final days of early in-person voting, some Hoosiers have waited hours in long, winding lines to cast their ballot.
That stats offer something to show for it.
Marion County voters surpassed early in-person voting totals in 2020 by several thousand. Hamilton County’s early turnout was roughly equivalent to its 2020 showing. The state has not yet released its numbers.
However, voting by mail was still vastly more popular in 2020, the year of the pandemic. That generally means that despite surges in early voting, the overall number of Hoosiers who cast their ballots before Election Day likely won’t break a record.
Here are the numbers. County elections officials will still be counting mail-in ballots received through 6 p.m. on Election Day.

- Early in-person in 2020: 130,018
