INDIANAPOLIS — A Missouri man accused of a three-decade-old murder is finally behind bars in Marion County.
The suspect is being held without bond after being returned to Indiana over the weekend.

During a hearing last week, a Missouri judge ordered the extradition of accused killer Dana Shephard. This is where he’ll be held until the case goes to trial following the brutal rape and murder dating back to 1993.
In March of 1993, at the Turtle Creek apartments, a woman was found murdered on the floor next to her bed after being raped and stabbed dozens of times inside her own home.
Unfortunately, for more than 30 years, the murder of Carmen Van Huss went unsolved.
According to the affidavit filed in the case, DNA evidence helped eliminate no less than 40 possible suspects over the last three decades before investigators connected Shepherd to the death.
The break in the case took place started in 2018 when IMPD shipped a DNA sample to a technology company called Parabon, which then used cutting-edge genetic testing to link the now 52-year-old suspect to the scene of the murder.
