IMPD investigates multiple shootings to kick off 2025

INDIANAPOLIS – Police responded to multiple shootings overnight as Indianapolis rang in the New Year.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police said four different incidents were under investigation.

The first took place at 12:12 a.m. on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Officers responded to the 4400 block of Madison Avenue for a reported shooting.

Officers found a person awake and breathing. Preliminary information indicated this may have been an accidental self-inflicted shooting.

Around the same time, officers were called to another incident on the east side. Police were sent to the 3900 block of Millersville Drive where they found a person suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was awake and breathing, police said.

Just before 12:30 a.m., police said a person showed up at IU Health Methodist Hospital after being shot. The individual was awake and breathing at last check, IMPD said.

The fourth reported shooting happened just before 1 a.m. on the west side. A man told police he was attending a New Year’s party when shots were fired. He suffered a graze wound to the shoulder.
