Suspect leads police on chase through Indy and Carmel with infant inside vehicle

CARMEL, Ind. — A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase with an infant inside his vehicle that started in Indianapolis and concluded in Carmel Friday night.

IMPD Capt. Rob Rider said an investigation began around 8:30 p.m. when an officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was getting gas at W. 86th Street and Ditch Road. The officer reportedly recognized a man who police said had an active warrant for being a serious violent felon.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop to apprehend the suspect. Rider said the man allegedly ignored this and fled from the officers, initiating a chase…
