Unlawful Encroachment Bill passes Indiana Senate

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- The Indiana State Senate sends a bill to the Governor’s desk which clarifies the state’s police buffer zone law.

Suspect in Hancock County officer-involved shooting to make court appearance

The measure would allow police officers to order someone to stop approaching within 25 feet if they believe that person would interfere with their investigation. If passes into law, anyone who violates the order to stop could face a class C misdemeanor.

Evansville Representative, Wendy McNamara authored the bill to address concerns that a previous version of the bill was too vague. Senator Jim Tomes opposed the bill, while State Senators Vaneta Becker and Darryl Schmitt both supported the measure. The bill now heads to Governor Mike Braun to decide its fate…
