Hamilton County Honors the Dedicated Service of Retiring Deputies Jeff Larkin and Kurt Delong

Amidst the spring air that still carries the brisk reminder of winter past, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spread the news of a dual retirement that marks the end of an era for two of its long-serving reserve deputies. A social media post shared by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Indiana detailed a ceremony held to honor the commitment and years of service dedicated by Deputy Jeff Larkin and Lieutenant Kurt Delong to the Hamilton County community.

The celebration, attended by family, friends, and co-workers, also saw Congresswoman Victoria Spartz expressing her gratitude, and speaking to the deputies’ valuable contributions to the county “Congratulations on your retirement, Deputy Jeff Larkin and Lieutenant Kurt Delong!” the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office post beamed, each deputy received an American flag that once flew over the Capitol along with a Congressional Record noting their decades of service. Meanwhile, Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt also lauded the retirees, speaking to their impressive service records.

Lieutenant Delong, a recipient of numerous accolades such as Reserve Deputy of the Year, Sergeant of the Year, and Lieutenant of the Year, has been instrumental in a variety of roles. “He is also a Lifesaving Award Recipient, a pistol expert, and a mentor and trainer for new reserve deputies,” the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office quipped in celebration of Delong’s accolades. His commitment extended beyond the badge as he immersed himself in charitable initiatives, including serving as a Christmas Express Volunteer and member of the Shop for Kids Board through both HCSO and HCSO Community Foundation…
